I ordered an airstream style food trailer from Honlu Food Cart Manufacturing via Alibaba, it took double the time they quoted to complete and when it arrived it was seized by US customs for not meeting DOT standards even after I had stated multiple times that the vehicle needed to be completely up to code and Honlu charging me extra modifications to do so. My trailer was ultimately destroyed by US Customs due to not being road compliant and Honlu completely ignored all of my emails to them when I asked for a refund. I disputed the transaction with Alibaba and they said they wouldn’t refund because it was ultimately my responsibility to make sure the food trailer was up to code, which is an absolute cop out because I have it in writing where they agreed to. I had attempted to purchase a third part inspection via Alibaba which was declined because there were no inspectors in the area according to Alibaba who refunded my money. Honlu didn’t even bother responding to Alibaba during the dispute process, I’m guessing because they knew they would get away with what they did.
The United States customs officers told me that they seize a ton of food trucks. When I had initially done my research on ordering overseas I never saw anything about food trucks routinely being destroyed, just repairs needed and extra shipping fees/delays which I thought I could handle. Honlu is a verified, “trusted” Alibaba marketplace seller even though they don’t provide quality work or stand behind their product when it doesn’t meet the standards that are previously agreed to.
I’m out $15,000 so I’m just writing this to warn everyone to learn from my mistakes and not order from Honlu.
