User Experience:
We found this company on Alibaba and made a Trade Assurance order with them. We ordered 16t of 14×0.35mm stainless steel tubes from them and paid 30% advance for those 16t. After talking with the company, we agreed on FOB Shanghai and after the goods are ready, for an inspection from CCIC to be made, so we can confirm the quantity and quality of the goods. After the goods were ready, CCIC performed this inspection and the first problem appeared. CCIC’s report showed the tubes were indeed 14×0.35mm but the total quantity was 13.5t instead of 16t. Since this is not the first time a Chinese company scammed us, we were not very surprised and contacted the supplier. The supplier acted surprised and told us the factory refused to manufacture the rest of the quantity. Because the supplier was caught in the act and maybe because the order was through Alibaba, they agreed for us to pay for 13.5 instead of 16t. Despite that, we strongly believe, if we did not order this inspection, the supplier would never have told us the total quantity was lower than we ordered.

Keeping in mind their first attempt to scam us, we ordered another weighting inspection from the forwarder. The forwarder’s inspection showed the total weight is even less than CCIC’s report. The weight was 11.1t. Based on the forwarder’s recommendation, they brought the container to the Shanghai port’s scales which showed an even lower weight at 10.2t! The forwarder contacted both us and the supplier and told both of us about this problem but the supplier tried to coerce the forwarder to ignore these measurements and accept a BL with a weight of 13.5t which was false information based on the Shanghai port’s scales which are certified. After the forwarder refused to accept this, the supplier directly and on his own submitted a customs declaration to the Chinese stating the weight is 10.2t.

Based on all of this information and documents, we opened a dispute with Alibaba who promote themselves as fair arbiters who in case of a scam will take action and refund you based on the losses acquired because of this scam. Despite that, it turns out Alibaba is there to force you to accept the lowest amount of refund possible. We provided chat and email pictures, the official BL, packing list, Invoice, payment documents and even the Chinese customs declaration which the supplier filled out and submitted on his own. Alibaba refused to accept all of these official documents. They kept asking for more and more evidence. They even refused to accept the customs declaration and accused us of falsifying these documents. In the end they threatened us to either accept a refund which did not cover even 1/8 of our losses or to forget about any refund at all.

After we received the tubes, it turned out the real size of the tubes is not 14×0.35mm but 14×0.26mm which is unusable for our manufacture! We contacted CCIC about this problem. Unfortunately they found a very convenient excuse which was: “The goods we inspected were not the goods which you received”. This shows CCIC is not a reliable inspection service!

Of course, Alibaba completely refused to open another dispute concerning the size difference scam which brought us more losses than the weight scam!

From all of this, we reached a conclusion that Alibaba’s claims that they are there to protect their buyers are entirely a marketing gimmick. Despite this dispute and the obvious scam, this supplier is still active on Alibaba and is probably scamming other clients. This shows Alibaba’s true goal is to defend their real customers who are the supplier companies who pay every year to be on Alibaba’s website! Alibaba’s actions are in a way essentially buying your silence with the least amount of money as possible!
