My elderly Father-in-law was searching the web for the best deal on a weber bbq. The company Garden Outdoor Sales (website www.gardenoutdoorsales.com.au) was offering the product at a price ~$50 less than other companies. He completed the order details on the website, including entering my credit card details and was sent an invoice. The product never arrived. After ~2 weeks I tried calling but the number was not active and the links for support on the website were broken. I checked the invoice and found some inconsistencies, and then checked my bank statement to find that two payments, one of $250 and one of $500 had been taken from my account over several days (these did not match the $340 price of the BBQ and were not from “Garden Outdoor Sales”). In short, “Garden Outdoor Sales” is reasonably convincing website offering what appear to be very good deals on high ticket outdoor items, but is a facade for obtaining credit card details and subsequently siphoning funds from your account.
