User Experience:
TNW Data placed and enquiry for 50 000m of Cat6A U/FTP networking cable through Alibaba website. The enquiry specifically requested “Cat6A U/FTP” cable and all that implies i.e. Cat6A U/FTP cable is used for 10G Base-T communication over a maximum of 90 meters permanent link configuration on a standard data cabling network installation.
Tina from Wandong Cable contacted me via the Alibaba enquiry and assisted me with pricing and quotation. On first attempt she sent me the wrong price, she then corrected price to include individually shielded pairs as per request sent “U/FTP”. I accepted the PI clearly quoting “Cat6A U/FTP” in both product code and description.
Based on communications clearly stating “Cat6A U/FTP” Cable and signing a PI for “Cat6A U/FTP” and paying upfront for “CAT6A U/FTP” Cable – and also “MAXXIM U/FTP 23AWG CAT6A CABLE ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2-10” printed on the cable as suggested by Tina from Wandong Cable as description of cable, the expectation was to receive CAT6A U/FTP from Wandong Cable. WE DID NOT RECEIVE CAT6A U/FTP CABLE FROM SHENZHEN WANDONG CABLE Co. Ltd.
The cable received from Shenzhen Wandong Cable does not even perform up to Cat5e or Cat6 standard. The cable fail all tests for Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a. Although tests are not a pre-requisite, the cable needs to at least work. As now the cable is not working at all and is not being accepted by the client at all.
Through extensive testing, for over a week on site and our offices, we have ascertained the following through extensive testing;
1. Using many different Cat6a component verified keystone connectors and patch cords, any point longer than 15 meters using the Cat6a U/FTP cable supplied by Wandong Cable – auto negotiates down to 100 Megs, it cannot even do 1 Gigabit communication.
2. This in essence mean that the cable supplied by Wandong Cable does not even performs up to Cat5e standard and is worse than Cat5e. Although the cable quotes, invoiced and paid for and delivered to TNW Data indicated Cat6A U/FTP throughout the transaction.
3. When we remove the Cat6A U/FTP cable from installation and install normal inexpensive low grade Cat5e cable using same connectors and patch cords, the transmission speeds go up to 1 Gigabit easily. This can only mean that cable supplied by Wandong is of exceptional BAD QUALITY.
Bottom line is that the CABLE IS NOT WORKING by any stretch of the imagination. It is installed in standard building, any point over 15 meters cannot and will not run 1 Gigabit, and negotiates down to 100 Megs. This is completely unacceptable and we are being held responsible by the Government of South Africa, as we supplied the cable. All the cable has been installed on Provincial Government of the Western Cape in South Africa. The tender called for Cat6A U/FTP cable to be installed – it clearly is not Cat6A U/FTP cable that was supplied, by Wandong Cables.
I am not going to go back and forth with you all the time. This is having a huge financial impact on my business and the Maxxim brand. If Wandong cables does not rectify this problem by returning my companies monies or supply us as a matter of huge urgency with CAT6A U/FTP Cable that can do 10G Base-T communication in a standard networking installation using standard 10Gig switches, we will be forced to take this further as far as possible by involving any and all interested parties.
We have been instructed by government to remove the cable already at our own cost and replace with Cat6A U/FTP cable. We have been instructed to pay for all damages and relocation costs of the customer. We have been instructed to install at our own cost the new correct cable as soon as humanly possible. We are complying with the customer as we are in process of negotiating 5-year supply contract for Maxxim Cat6A product to Western Cape Government of the Western Cape and do not want to endanger that contract in any way. We need to import actual Cat6A U/FTP cable (Specification is in the word Cat6A U/FTP) and replace as soon as humanly possible.
My expectation is that someone with decision making capacity within Shenzhen Wandong Cable Co., Ltd will contact me with a clear and precise solution to this problem. My expectation is that non-working cable will be replaced or the company’s monies will be returned as a minimum, as we have many more expenses due to this non-working and extremely bad quality cable supplied by Shenzhen Wandong Cable Co Ltd.
The communication could not have been clearer – I requested Cat6A U/FTP cable for networking. Below see what Cat6A means for any business man in cable – I am RCDD and have very good knowledge of data cabling products: Cat6A U/FTP cables are specifically designed to support 10GBASE-T high speed data network applications. With individual foil shielded pairs, this design maximizes the 10GBASE-T cable performance:
