We were told that the first shipment was shipped via DHL on March 16, 2014. Now waiting for delivery, we requested a DHL tracking number. After days of pushing for a tracking number for the shipment from the company, we were told on March 19, 2014, that both shipments are stuck in customs and will not be released unless be paid a brand tax of $1,900.00 USD.
We were not informed that there would be a possible or brand tax charge prior to making the purchase. Now that we have paid, we are being told that if we don’t pay the above amount in 72 hours the shipment will be lost forever because customs will seize them. In addition, the company refuses to give us a refund, Mary Yi said, we will not get a refund because customs has the shipment.
We have asked for customs and DHL shipment information to contact customs and DHL, the company have refused to provide the information and now refuses to talk to us.
Our business grand opening is in 6 weeks, and all we have are phone cases; all our money and stock is with Mary Yi.
Firstly, not to trust suppliers in China. Second, do sampling orders first before making a large purchase. Third, involve a reputable third party, preferably a sourcing company not an agent. There might be a cost, but it is safer.
Most importantly, do extensive research before making the first move. Read, google, ask questions, make contact with organizations (like Supplier Blacklist), get references, etc.
