Well .. I do not buy anything any more from China. You have to investigate and investigate before. Do not use this web side http://www.globalsources.com/…Do not trust this company info “Verified Suppliers” (they do not care what happens to you). Do not trust PayPal, I used their services and still lost my money.
Editorial Note
The team here at SBL shares your frustration with the online directories. Some are better than others. In our experience, Global Sources was more reliable than the other major directories. Did you contact them to request the offending supplier was removed from the GS website?
At the end of the day, the sellers pay the online directory for the listing. So they need to be a pretty bad supplier in order to get kicked off the website. That is one of the reasons we set up SBL. We want to offer a forum where we can expose these under-performing suppliers.
Regardless of which online directory was used to find the supplier, it is imperative to do your due diligence before placing a PO. The typical supplier listed on Alibaba and GlobalSources.com probably isn’t a scam, but because they have 100’s of 1000’s of supplier listed, some of the suppliers must be bad. The problem with so called “verified suppliers” is that even if a supplier is verified today it is not a guarantee that this supplier will be good tomorrow. So it is up to us buyers to do the verification. The crew over at CSIC wrote a good blog post about the verification process: Essential sourcing skills: Supplier Verification . You may find it to be of interest.
