Stage of relationship with the supplier at the time of the incident:
Dear all, we have been discussing with Franvin Cooperative Society, incorporation number: SW/CO/002/14/11924, from Cameroon, in a tentative of ordering Recycled HDPE (recycled high density polyethylene) since June 12nd, 2018. All the messages were exchanged with Mr. Toby, introduced as Sales/Export Manager. We also discussed over the phone: +237 67489 1569 many times, by email (on email@example.com) and even on Skype (his account is sales.kbv). They sent us pictures of their materials, explained their supply ability, technical specifications and so on. In the picture the material was just perfect (clean, white granules) for our application. We were looking for high-end Recycled HDPE. For safety sake, we decided to order a sample. They were committed to dispatch the sample free of charge (by US$1,00 only), but requested us to bear the shipping costs, what was very expensive. We accepted. We contacted DHL and requested them to pick-up the sample in Cameroon, exactly as promised/introduced by Mr. Toby from Franvin Cooperative Society through the pictures and technical specification.
We spent around US$650,00 with DHL and after 15 days approx., the sample arrived at our office. However, the material was completely different than we requested/expected. They dispatched something that we could not use by any chance. According to Mr. Toby, they did not made any checking in the cargo before dispatching and also made a wrong separation. They tried to apologize and said they could not send us the right material because they did not have it stored at the moment. They misunderstood our requirements. Incredible, because they have sent us pictures and specifications and all have matched. Anyhow, since they did not have material to replace, they said they would refund 50% of our freight forwarding costs. In fact, the real thing is that …. They have never replaced the wrong material. They have never paid any freight forwarding costs. We got this as a loss. We ordered, we paid the shipping cost, we got the wrong material, we got zero assistance from them to fix it in a reasonable way. So, please, be very careful while ordering from that company. They did not behave as a serious international player.
Next time, transactions will be made via a safe platform, such as paypal, mainly for samples. Otherwise, we won’t proceed discussions.
