Stage of relationship with the supplier at the time of the incident:
Just want to share my sincere advice. If anyone of you plan to OEM baby diapers for your own brand, do not ever engage the Chinese company Huxinpaper Jiangmen, the factory owner named Tony Wen.
We are a new startup and have very bad experience with this factory. We paid in full advanced for our diaper raw material, the manufacturer quoted us “breathable backsheet film” for the diaper, ended up when we received the diapers pre production, our management tested and all of our diapers are manufactured using Non breathable backsheet film after so many rounds of test. The whole batch of printed backsheets raw material of the baby diapers are NON breathable material.
Besides that this Chinese factory changed many of the diapers component and our company found out, during the test, the diaper is less absorbency, SAP used is not up to the weight as promised, so little woodpulp and it’s not up to what he quoted. When we demanded for an answer from the factory owner, Tony, he denied that he ordered non compliance raw material and insist us to continue with the project.
The whole 2.5ton of backsheet is not what we ordered and he denied that the backsheet has problem and He insisted to continue manufacturing our products and refused to refund our money.
Our company has sent our diapers to independent test lab to collect proof for the material used which doesn’t comply to what has been proposed and quoted.
After a week, our company team has taken this factory diaper samples which they claim that they export to Korea, Kimrox, and Emma Nong brand (Their China market diaper) to test on the backsheet material as well. We are shocked to find out that kimrox diaper (exported to Korea) is also NON breathable backsheet, while Emma Nong China market diaper manufactured by them is having a breathable backsheet.
It’s clearly that this factory try to CON overseas foreign customers as he is aware that for foreign clients we will be having difficulties in chasing back the fund and getting lawsuit, compare to china market.
In case you not aware, breathable backsheet for a baby diapers is important, in order to avoid heat rashes on baby’s skin, in fact in these modern era, most of the diapers brand out there is using breathable backsheet.
In case you want to know about how to test on your existing diaper backsheet – you can always view this youtube >
1) Pour 100c of hot water into a tea cup
2) Cover your baby diaper on the teacup neck and stack a plate on the diaper
3) Wait for 5 mins
4) When you open the plate after 5mins, if the plate has water vapor, it means your baby diaper backsheet is breathable, if it doesn’t vapor – it means the baby diaper backsheet is not breathable at all.
Mr Tony Wen refused to admit despite the experiment shown has proven that he has provided something else than what he quoted to us. He tried to fool us by telling all sorts of lies about the diapers that he wants to try his best to improve – but the fact is that, the whole lot of our 2.5 tonne of backsheet has been printed and paid by us in full, and it doesn’t comply to what he quoted.
The total amount of losses we mentioning here is USD22000.
This is a very dangerous factory and just want to warn everyone who planning to do business in China
1) Get a big factory, assess their factory prior ordering – get inspector to be there to check all raw material to ensure quality
2) Do not, ever trust China factory, especially the owner. All of the money they cheat is for their own company interest.
3) Have more knowledge about the product you want to sell/manufacture to avoid being cheated and manipulated by the factory.
